ABOUT US

Alpha Phi Sigma, founded in 1969, has remained committed to its mission of providing students with the resources and opportunities needed to achieve their health profession aspirations. Alpha Phi Sigma emphasizes community and leadership, along with mentorship and shadowing opportunities. The organization encourages future healthcare professionals to remain proactive through volunteerism and to always uphold the altruistic values of healthcare. APS is a close-knit, diverse group of student leaders dedicated to positively shaping the future of healthcare.

Alpha Phi Sigma is one of three College of Natural Sciences-recognized pre-health honor societies that strives to empower students in their pre-health journeys. APS provides meetings with physician guest speakers, career mentorship and guidance, volunteer opportunities, shadowing opportunities, and community connections in order to prepare future healthcare professionals. Providing more than just a gathering place for a diverse pre-health community, Alpha Phi Sigma offers leadership roles for self-growth and experience, discounts on professional school entrance exam preparation courses, and more. This organization seeks to aid all students in their unique journeys into the world of healthcare.

Leadership OPPORTUNITIES

Stay involved in APS and become an officer, committee chair, or committee member. There are many opportunities to grow and develop as a leader.

Shadowing

Members can apply to be directly paired with a healthcare worker for a guaranteed shadowing opportunity, including doctors, dentists, and professionals across various healthcare fields.

Officer Candidacy

Our Officer Candidacy Program, open to all members, provides valuable presentations on various academic/career development topics.

Volunteering

We connect you to a variety of meaningful volunteer opportunities that you can contribute to as a group with APS or individually. We offer both recurring and one-time events.

Socials

We offer several socials every week. From co-ed intramural sports and a close-knit Big-Little program to weekly karaoke nights and Barge in the spring, there's something for everyone!
