PRESIDENT

Lee Horton

Year: Senior
Major and minor/certificate: Neuroscience BSA Honors| Pre-health Professions Certificate

Research/other orgs: I performed three semesters of (super fun) genomics research at UT under Dr. Vishy Iyer. I’ve also done biomechanical research with Texas A&M, where we were able to produce and donate a prosthetic device. I’m a member of the Health Science Scholars honors program, Texas Blazers, a former FIG mentor, and a genetics TA. I've also completed a medical preceptorship at Texas A&M College of Medicine, as well as an internship with McGovern Medical School.
Hobbies & Passions: I really enjoy spending time outdoors. I try to hike pretty often, especially when the weather is nice.  I also cook pretty well!
One interesting fact about me:  I’m a licensed real estate agent!

Research/other orgs: I’ve been a part of the UT basketball practice team for the women for the past 3 years. I volunteer with sports medicine physicians in Austin through Dell Med's Military & Sports Medicine interest group for undergrads. I am also soon to be a member of the Texas Wranglers
Hobbies & Passions: My biggest passion is athletics. I love watching and playing any type of sport, and have been playing basketball since I was 9. I also love traveling, especially to Spanish speaking countries, where I can try the local foods and practice my Spanish.
One interesting fact about me: I lived in Costa Rica for a year!

I am the social media manager for UT’s chapter of Spoon University, a food publication, and a member of ABSA. I volunteer at Ascension Seton Northwest.
Hobbies & Passions: 
I love finding restaurants to try and cool places to go to. I have a foodstagram to share a bit of this love. I enjoy playing video games with people. I’m interested in a variety of things dealing with design, like graphic design, architecture, and interior design.
One interesting fact about me: 
I have an appreciation for packaging. I enjoy making paper boxes and cards for gifts. I also collect packaging that I like from things that I buy and receive.

 I was part of research in a UTA lab for a year where we studied the imaging capability of LSFM on zebra fish! I’m a part of the crisis text line and have done many hours of volunteer work at my local clinic and hospital.
Hobbies & Passions:  I’m a big fan of traveling abroad and love exploring new places. I really enjoy playing piano and guitar and am a fan of volleyball and foosball as well!
One interesting fact about me: I have a three legged cat named Billy!

Kishore Botla

 Nutrition Major | Ethics and Leadership in Healthcare Certificate
Research/other orgs:  I participated in the Nutrigenomics FRI stream and am currently performing nutrition-focused diabetes intervention research with the Davis Lab. I am additionally a part of SHAC (Student Health Advisory Committee), the student branch of UHS on campus, along with Texas Rock Climbing. Lastly, I volunteer at Dell Children's Medical Center in the PACU Unit. 
Hobbies & Passions:  I absolutely love rock climbing (especially at Greg gym, so if you wanna climb with me please reach out!), working out, playing basketball, and doing anything physical. I'm also a huge geek and love technology, mainly building computers for both myself and others.
One interesting fact about me:  I'm the biggest Frank Ocean fan you'll ever meet and I can only hope that I'll see him live one day!

Catherine Wilson

Research/other orgs:  I have been working in the Kirkpatrick Lab on a quantitative genetics research project for the past semester, and I am part of the Ascension Seton clinical research volunteer program working with pediatric asthma patients. I am a volunteer at People’s Community Clinic and Hearts for the Homeless, and I tutor in my spare time. I will also be joining the UT Women’s Field Hockey team this fall.
Hobbies & Passions: I love being outdoors, and have been an avid hiker all my life. I enjoy kayaking and paddle boarding, and am always trying to find new places to explore. I also love traveling, learning new languages, and experiencing new cultures. I love art, and spend my time painting or going to museums when I need a break from studying.
One interesting fact about me: I am a certified EMT, and a member of Longhorn EMS!

Research/other orgs: I am a member of Epic (my Christian ministry), the Health Science Scholars honors program, and Healing with Harmonies (in which I play the viola)! I am also a Biobricks mentor, WINS PA, and an undergraduate researcher for the Tiziani lab studying metabolomic vulnerabilities in cancer. Last summer, I was a summer researcher in the CPRIT CURE program at MD Anderson and studied the mechanisms of breast cancer metastasis. 
Hobbies & Passions:  I love to play the viola and kalimba! I also spend way too much time watching Twitch and Tik Toks.
One interesting fact about me: I carry a bag of stress chocolate around me at all times for important times of need.

I participated in the Antibiotics and Vertebrae Interactome Mapping FRI streams. My research was focused on finding new antibiotics and identifying the function of RBM5 gene. 
Hobbies & Passions: I really enjoy reading and building things. If I’m not studying, you’ll probably see me reading or building new stuff for my room! I’m a huge foodie, so I love trying out new places. 
One interesting fact about me:  
I’ve convinced myself that I am allergic to ants, and one time I landed in the emergency room because of an ant bite.
